ALCHEMY IN VENICE - In Pre Production

Picture

Sua is a talented Korean violinist in her mid 20’s who enjoys busking the city streets of Venice, California. She does this for fun, and to work on her craft. Jacques is a French photographer, working for a local magazine, who captures her beauty and performance on camera. This chance encounter sparks an attraction between these two outsiders, who speak very little English. They initially connect through the universal language of the arts; but they are in America and must embrace the challenge of learning English. Together.

Just down the street, Evan is homeless artist busking away, doing sketches and drawings of locals open to the experience. Having just been kicked out of his apartment, he needs the money to eat. And to rent a local gallery for an exhibition. For years, Evan has dreamed of presenting his work. He just needs to recover from a broken relationship with his teenage daughter and her toxic mother.

Jacques continues to push Sua to pursue a traditional path toward the philharmonic stage. As their relationship evolves in some ways, it begins to crumble in others. Without the confidence to follow her own instincts, Sua reluctantly agrees to accept a performance with the local orchestra. Hours of practice for Sua, and time away on assignments for Jacques, allow for space and growth in many ways, causing fractures in others.  Sua develops new musical and artistic passions.  And she explores the creation of recycled art pieces.

As the paths of our artistic heroes continue to cross, their lives and careers take unexpected turns. Themes of homelessness and sustainability show elevated purpose over time.  In life, as in art, there is often transformation.Sua is a talented Korean violinist in her mid 20’s who enjoys busking the city streets of Venice, California.
